Recognised for transforming City Campus, the New Academic Street (NAS) precinct has been nominated for a Property Council of Australia award in the People’s Choice category. You have until 13 April to show your support – VOTE HERE – and just scroll down the list and select New Academic Street.
With the rest of Melbourne’s CBD heaving with cranes, hoarding, trucks and construction workers in fluro vests holding lollipops signs – inside RMIT’s CBD campus is a modern oasis.
Sunny skies and balmy temperatures in the last month have helped banish the former city-campus-meets-building-site forever. Bowen Street now looks like a hip palazzo peppered with designer seating and cool food outlets, fringed by rooftop terraces and the Garden Building and our very own bluestone laneways linking through to Swanston Street.
With more than 4000 new student seats the City campus is literally a haven! In fact it’s so stunning that our colleagues up the road have jumped on the bandwagon announcing that they are using our lead architect to update its campus too.
Let’s take credit for being bold and brave enough to do it first!

RMIT’s New Academic Street NAS precinct has been nominated for two awards: Development Innovation, which is judged by a specialist judging panel; and, the People’s Choice awards, which is open to all short-listed entrants and judged by the number of votes. The PCA is the leading body in Australia’s property industry and the winners will be announced on 11 May.
The New Academic Street is delivering RMIT’s students and people a great environment to collaborate, learn and study and it’s a testament to what we can achieve when we work together. Vote NOW.
